Sacred botanicals were an important part of holy rituals performed by Goddesses in Mythological times. Sumukha’s ingredients have their history rooted in Lord Shiva’s times. In ancient Indian Mythology it is believed that Goddess Parvati created Lord Ganesha by scrubbing her skin with sandalwood paste & scrapping off the dead skin. She mixed the slouched-off dead skin with clay & molded it into a beautiful doll into which she breathed life.
Sandalwood paste is believed to protect the ‘Agna Chakra’ & cool the mind. In modern India, sandalwood paste is frequently used as ‘Tilaka’ during traditional prayers. In South India, women welcome guests by applying this paste on guests’ forehead. Since time immemorial, Sumukha ingredients are actively used to prepare Ayurvedic ‘Lepas’ to beautify & detoxify the skin. Some of its ingredients such as licorice, have their mention in global ancient texts including Oriental & Ayurveda.
